Is SentinelOne Singularity Complete Worth the Premium for a Small Business?
Contents
Executive summary
For a small business with no one to run it, SentinelOne Singularity Complete is not worth its premium: you pay for detection depth that nobody on staff will use, on a contract that renews at a higher fee if you miss a notice date. As of 30 September 2026 it lists at $179.99 per endpoint per year, against a median of $79.99 for EDR products that publish a price, and 24/7 managed response is not offered. On the SMB Fit Score it gets 33 and sits at #15.
SentinelOne earns the price in narrower cases: an MSP or in-house IT person who works in the console daily, a fleet with Linux servers, or a buyer who needs a FedRAMP-authorised vendor. For everyone else, ThreatDown Elite includes human monitoring for $99.00 per endpoint per year, and Microsoft Defender for Business includes EDR for $36.00 per user per year.
What does the premium buy?
SentinelOne Singularity Complete is an EDR platform built for people who investigate. The feature list is strong: EDR, ransomware rollback, device control, Windows, macOS and Linux agents, SIEM integration and multi-tenant management are all included. The problem for a small business is that its cheaper rivals include most of the same list.
| Product | EDR | 24/7 managed response | Ransomware rollback | Device control | Patch management | Linux | MSP multi-tenant |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Included | Not offered | Not offered | Included | Not offered | Add-on | Included | |

Read across the rows and the gap SentinelOne closes is small. ThreatDown Advanced adds patch management that SentinelOne sells as an add-on. ThreatDown Elite adds 24/7 managed response, which SentinelOne's package table marks "Not included" for Complete. What SentinelOne Singularity Complete offers that the others do not is its own console and detection engine, and those pay off only when a skilled person uses them.
Two details on SentinelOne's packages page (checked 30 September 2026) sharpen this. Complete keeps 14 days of data, so a small business looking back at an incident discovered weeks later will find the trail has gone. And the managed services are not in the box: managed threat hunting is an add-on, and SentinelOne offers its MDR service as an add-on only for Singularity Commercial and Enterprise, the packages above Complete.
Who will act on the alerts?
SentinelOne Singularity Complete does not need in-house security staff to install, and its agent runs autonomously. But an EDR console produces alerts and incident timelines, and the product does not include anyone to read them. For a 15-person office with a part-time IT contractor, that is the whole question.
If nobody will respond at 2am, your real choice is between three options:
- Buy SentinelOne through an MSP that monitors it. SentinelOne does not sell its MDR service with Complete, so the people come from the partner: an MSP or security provider running its own SOC over your console. The total is the licence plus that service, and it will not appear on any public price list.
- Buy a product with managed response in the price. ThreatDown Elite and Huntress Managed EDR publish a price that includes analysts. Neither has recent AV-Test or AV-Comparatives results, so you trade lab evidence for people.
- Buy cheaper EDR and accept business-hours response. Microsoft Defender for Business has automated investigation and remediation, and recent results from both main labs.
The renewal clause to diary before you sign
SentinelOne's Master Subscription Agreement, section 11.1, renews the subscription automatically for a term the same length as the first. Either side can stop that with written notice at least 30 days before the term ends. If you give no notice and issue no new purchase order, the agreement says the renewal fees "shall be calculated at 120% of the most recent Purchase Order(s)".
That is a 20% uplift for doing nothing. SentinelOne is the only vendor in this database with a published renewal uplift, and it lands on the product that is already the most expensive. Three habits deal with it:
- Put the non-renewal deadline in the calendar the day you sign, 45 days before term end.
- Ask the partner to state the renewal price in the order form, and whether the partner's own paper overrides the MSA.
- Decide at month ten whether you are staying, so the notice is a choice rather than a scramble.
Purchase runs through partners. The packages page says "All purchases will be made through an authorized third-party partner" and that list prices "do not reflect final pricing". The partner quote is the real price, and it may be lower than list.
Does the lab record justify the price?
The case for SentinelOne often rests on MITRE ATT&CK Evaluations. SentinelOne detected 72 of 80 substeps in the 2024 round (ER6), or all 80 counting results after configuration changes, a result now outside the 18-month window the SMB Fit Score allows, and it then chose not to take part in the 2025 round. Its AV-Test and AV-Comparatives business results stop in 2017, according to AV-Test's SentinelOne listing.
| Product | AV-Test protection | AV-Comparatives protection | MITRE ATT&CK Evaluation |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6.0/6 2026-08 | 98.8% 2026-H1 | 83.8% coverage 2024 Dated | |
| 6.0/6 2025-12 | 99.8% 2026-H1 | 72.5% coverage 2024 Dated | |
| No public result | 98.5% 2026-H1 | 98.9% coverage 2025 | |
| No public result | No public result | Participated 2024 Dated | |
| No public result | No public result | 90% coverage 2024 Dated |
MITRE tests whether an agent spots every stage of a scripted intrusion. It does not measure how often it blocks everyday malware or how many false alarms it raises, which is what AV-Test and AV-Comparatives score. Bitdefender and Microsoft have results in both kinds of test. SentinelOne Singularity Complete asks you to pay more for less current public evidence, and our guide to reading lab results explains why that matters.
What it costs at your size
SentinelOne prices Complete for 5 to 100 workstations, with no published volume discount inside that band. SentinelOne states no purchase minimum of its own; the partner who sells it sets the terms.
| Product | Per unit per month | 10 seats / yr | 25 seats / yr | 100 seats / yr |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $3.00 /user/mo | $360.00 | $900.00 | $3,600.00 | |
| $7.33 /endpoint/mo | $879.99 | $1,869.99 | $6,039.99 | |
| $8.25 /endpoint/mo | $990.00 | Via sales (online up to 20) | Via sales (online up to 20) | |
| $15.00 /endpoint/mo | $1,799.90 | $4,499.75 | $17,999.00 | |
| Min 50 seats | Min 50 seats | Min 50 seats | $9,588.00 |
At every seat count shown, SentinelOne Singularity Complete costs more than ThreatDown Elite, which includes 24/7 analysts. That comparison is the heart of the value question.
When SentinelOne is the right call
- Your MSP already runs SentinelOne. Multi-tenant management and ConnectWise and NinjaOne integrations are included, and SentinelOne sells through ConnectWise's own security suite. Standardising with your provider beats a cheaper product they do not support.
- You have Linux servers to protect. Linux is included in the same agent and console. Defender for Business needs a separate servers add-on for that.
- You sell to government. SentinelOne holds FedRAMP High authorisation on its trust centre, relevant if a federal customer asks about your security vendors.
- You have an analyst. A person who hunts in the console will get value that a set-and-forget buyer never sees.
Buyer mistakes with SentinelOne
- Buying Complete as if it were managed. It is not, and SentinelOne will not add its own MDR to this package. Budget for a partner's monitoring service, or pick a product that includes one.
- Comparing the list price with a quote. The list price is a ceiling set by SentinelOne; partners set the final figure. Get at least two partner quotes, and hold them against the published per-seat prices of other EDR products.
- Missing the notice window. The 120% renewal applies silently.
- Treating 2024 MITRE results as current. They are a single round from a test SentinelOne then skipped.
- Buying for under 5 devices. SentinelOne does not show Complete pricing below 5 workstations.
Frequently asked questions
Is SentinelOne worth it for a small business?
Only if someone will operate it. SentinelOne Singularity Complete is a capable EDR product, but it costs $179.99 per endpoint per year without managed response. A business with no IT staff gets more protection per dollar from a product that includes monitoring, such as ThreatDown Elite.
Does SentinelOne Singularity Complete auto-renew?
Yes. Section 11.1 of SentinelOne's Master Subscription Agreement renews the subscription unless either party gives written notice at least 30 days before the term ends, and bills a renewal without a new purchase order at 120% of the last one.
Can I buy SentinelOne directly?
No. SentinelOne's packages page says all purchases go through an authorised third-party partner, and that listed prices are not final pricing. There is no public free trial either: the old trial page now leads to a demo request.
What is cheaper than SentinelOne with similar features?
Microsoft Defender for Business ($36.00 per user per year) and ThreatDown Advanced ($79.00 per endpoint per year) both include EDR, and ThreatDown Advanced also includes ransomware rollback on Windows. Within SentinelOne's own range, SentinelOne Singularity Control lists at $79.99 per endpoint per year for 5 to 100 workstations with the same agent and rollback, but its package table leaves out XDR and data retention. The SentinelOne vs Microsoft Defender for Business comparison and the SentinelOne vs Huntress comparison set it against the cheapest EDR and a managed alternative.
Methodology and caveats
Prices, capabilities, lab results and contract terms come from the SentinelOne Singularity Complete product page, with a source and check date behind every value. The retention periods and package contents were checked on SentinelOne's packages page on 30 September 2026. Partner pricing, and any partner terms that change the MSA, are outside what we can verify. A low SMB Fit Score here signals poor fit for a small buyer (price, purchase route, evidence age), not weak detection; the scoring formula is public.
