What does small business antivirus cost at 10, 25 and 100 devices?
List prices per seat per month and annual totals for every antivirus product here that publishes a price, from each vendor's own store or calculator. The all-products ranking puts antivirus next to EDR and managed response:

| $4.58 /endpoint/mo | $549.00 | $1,167.50 | Via sales (online up to 99) | |
| $4.73 /endpoint/mo | $567.70 | $1,329.50 | $4,050.00 | |

When is plain antivirus enough for a small business?
Antivirus works without a human in the loop. It blocks a file or a script before it runs, quarantines it and moves on. For a five-person office where the "IT department" is whoever set up the router, that is the right shape of product: an EDR console that nobody reads adds cost and alert fatigue without adding protection.
The case for antivirus stops holding in three situations. If you handle regulated data and an auditor will ask how you would investigate an incident, if an MSP already monitors your systems and could use EDR telemetry, or if you have been hit before and need to know what an attacker touched, look at our EDR ranking instead. Some products here, such as Webroot Business Endpoint Protection, sell EDR as a paid add-on, so you can start with antivirus and add it later. With ESET PROTECT Core and both Bitdefender tiers listed here, getting EDR means moving up to the vendor's higher plan.
How do the antivirus lab results compare?
Because antivirus has to stop threats on its own, independent testing matters more here than anywhere else on the site. AV-Test and AV-Comparatives run business rounds against current malware and count false alarms; a product that blocks well and rarely flags legitimate software is doing the whole job.
| Product | AV-Test protection | AV-Comparatives protection | MITRE ATT&CK Evaluation |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6.0/6 2025-12 | 99.8% 2026-H1 | 72.5% coverage 1 of 80 not evaluated 2024 Dated | |
| 6.0/6 2025-12 | 98.8% 2026-H1 | 24.4% coverage 36 of 90 not evaluated 2025 | |
| 6.0/6 2025-12 | 99.8% 2026-H1 | 72.5% coverage 1 of 80 not evaluated 2024 Dated | |
| 6.0/6 2026-08 | 99% 2026-H1 | No public result | |
| 6.0/6 2026-06 | No public result | 28.9% coverage 36 of 90 not evaluated 2025 | |

Read the table for gaps as well as scores. Webroot Business Endpoint Protection has no current lab result: its last AV-Test business result is from June 2020, and it has none from AV-Comparatives or MITRE. CrowdStrike Falcon Go appears in AV-Comparatives only as Falcon Enterprise, a higher tier, so its result is a signal about the engine rather than about the Go package itself. ESET PROTECT Core has not been tested under that name: its AV-Test result is for ESET PROTECT Advanced 12.1 (December 2025) and its AV-Comparatives result is for ESET PROTECT Entry, both running the same ESET agent. ESET has not appeared in AV-Test's 2026 business rounds.
Which antivirus is best for your kind of office?
- Windows and Mac office, no IT staff: Bitdefender GravityZone Business Security. Self-serve from 3 devices, and ransomware rollback is included.
- You want patching handled too: Avast Ultimate Business Security at $56.77 per endpoint per year includes patch management. It does not cover Linux, and Avast publishes no HIPAA, PCI DSS or CMMC claims.
- Backup is the bigger worry: Acronis Cyber Protect at $85.00 per endpoint per year is backup-first with antimalware built in. You pay more per device than for most products here, and it can replace a separate backup product; its iOS and Android coverage is backup only.
- You want Bitdefender with more prevention layers: Bitdefender GravityZone Business Security Premium ($88.00 per endpoint per year) adds cloud sandboxing and attack forensics to the entry tier. It is still not EDR: Bitdefender describes it as prevention "without additional detection and response capabilities".
- An MSP manages your devices: ESET PROTECT Core ($54.90 per endpoint per year) has multi-tenant management plus named SIEM and RMM integrations, and its per-device price falls between 10 and 25 devices. The online store stops at 99 devices, so larger estates need a quote. CrowdStrike Falcon Go has no MSP multi-tenant management, so it suits a business buying for itself.
- Linux servers in the mix: check before you buy. Avast Ultimate Business Security, Webroot Business Endpoint Protection and Trend Micro Worry-Free Services Advanced list Linux as not offered, and Sophos Endpoint covers Windows Server and Linux only with a separate Sophos Workload Protection subscription.
- HIPAA-covered practice: 2 of the 9 products here offer a business associate agreement. Acronis limits its BAA to a higher edition with US cloud storage, arranged through an account manager. Bitdefender does not say it signs one for either tier listed here (its HIPAA page refers BAA questions to the account manager), and neither ESET nor CrowdStrike publishes a BAA offer for these products.
Which antivirus buying mistakes should you avoid?
Comparing a first-year promotion with a list price. Avast, Acronis and Webroot all show discounted prices in their checkouts below the list price we record. Our prices are list or renewal, per device per year, because that is what you pay from year two.
Letting auto-renewal decide for you. ESET, Bitdefender, Avast and Webroot renew automatically by default. That is convenient until you want to switch; note the opt-out date when you buy.
Choosing a device-capped product for a growing team. CrowdStrike Falcon Go at $59.99 per endpoint per year is limited to 100 devices and has no rollback. A business planning to grow past that will be migrating agents within a few years.
Paying for antivirus when the need is investigation. If a client contract or regulator expects you to show how you detected and handled an incident, antivirus logs will not answer that question. Buy EDR once rather than antivirus twice.
Why does Sophos rank low and Webroot high?
The Fit Score measures fit for a small buyer, and two of its inputs pull against protection in this group. Sophos Endpoint publishes no price, so it earns none of the 25 price points and sits at rank 8 of 9 in this category with a Fit Score of 42. In AV-Test's August 2026 round it scored a full 6 out of 6 for protection. AV-Comparatives' first-half 2026 business test did not approve it, despite 98.3% protection, because its performance impact went over the lab's limit. If you are happy to get a quote from a partner and your PCs have headroom, Sophos deserves a place on your shortlist.
Webroot Business Endpoint Protection is the reverse case. It ranks 7 of 9 in this category on a Fit Score of 55 because it has the lowest published price here ($30.00 per endpoint per year), self-serve checkout from 5 devices and quick setup. It scores zero for efficacy because no lab has a result for it on record. That rank tells you it is cheap and easy to buy. It tells you nothing about how well it blocks malware.
Trend Micro Worry-Free Services Advanced is quote-only too, and its only independent result is a MITRE ATT&CK round, so its rank reflects missing data more than known weakness.
What should you test in an antivirus trial?
- Install on your oldest working PC and time a normal morning's work; performance problems show up there first.
- Count false alarms on your own line-of-business software, especially anything older or custom-built.
- Confirm the renewal price in writing, not the first-year offer.
- Check every operating system you run, including servers, is covered by the licence you are buying.
- If an MSP will manage it, ask them which console they already use; a second one adds cost.
