About Endpoint Index

Publisher

Endpoint Index is published by Endpoint Index Media, an independent editorial operation. The database is maintained by Endpoint Index Editorial.

Editorial independence

Endpoint Index is an independent editorial database of endpoint security products for small and mid-size businesses. Every data point is sourced from vendor product pages, independent test labs, or public reports. Every claim carries a link to the source, a verification date, and the source tier.

Editorial text is generated from the data on the page and cites it directly. We do not publish opinions that cannot be traced to a sourced field.

The SMB Fit Score measures how well a product fits a small-business buyer based on publicly verifiable evidence: independent lab testing, published pricing, operational requirements, and capability coverage. It is not a measure of absolute product quality or security effectiveness. A product with strong protection but no independent test results, or no published price, will score lower on those components.

How we make money

We do not run display ads, sell user data, or accept payment for editorial coverage.

Sponsorship rules

Paid placement cannot change a product's score, ranking, inclusion, comparison verdict, or editorial text. Sponsors buy a clearly labelled placement outside the ranking. Commercial data is stored separately from product data, and the scoring system never sees commercial fields. Full methodology.

How we verify sources

Every sourced value carries a link to the source page, the tier it came from (the vendor's own product page, the vendor's pricing calculator, independent test labs, vendor press releases, or third-party sites), and the date we last verified it. For pricing, we capture and keep a dated record of every source. Lab results come from AV-Test, AV-Comparatives, and MITRE ATT&CK Evaluations. Values that cannot be verified from a scored source tier contribute zero to the score and display a label explaining why.

We respect applicable site terms, access controls, and technical restrictions. We use only publicly available information and check weekly. If a source blocks automated access, we record that the value could not be verified rather than attempting to circumvent the restriction.
