Which editions should you compare?
A search for "SentinelOne vs Sophos" usually means one of two decisions, and the products we track sit on different sides of it. SentinelOne Singularity Complete includes EDR: it is included. Sophos Endpoint does not: EDR is not offered, and Sophos's own feature matrix keeps detection and investigation tools for the next product up, Sophos EDR.
So the fair pairings are SentinelOne Complete against Sophos EDR if you want detection and response, or Sophos Endpoint against SentinelOne's entry tier, SentinelOne Singularity Control, if you do not. Sophos publishes no price on sophos.com; its EDR and MDR prices appear on its own AWS Marketplace listing, which the Sophos pricing guide sets out. SentinelOne shows list prices on its site, starting at $79.99 per endpoint per year for Control and $179.99 per endpoint per year for Complete, and sells every licence through partners.
What does the lab evidence say?
Sophos is the better-tested of the two right now. Sophos Intercept X scored 6 out of 6 for protection in AV-Test's August 2026 business round. In AV-Comparatives' first-half 2026 business test it reached 98.3% protection but was not approved, because its performance impact went over the lab's limit. In MITRE's 2025 evaluation Sophos detected 66 of 90 substeps on the first run and 90 of 90 after configuration changes, a large gap that the MITRE explainer puts in context.
SentinelOne has no AV-Test or AV-Comparatives business result since 2017 and did not enter MITRE's 2025 round, saying it was putting engineering resources into customer work. Its most recent MITRE result, 72 of 80 substeps on the first run of the 2024 round, is now more than 18 months old. That is why its efficacy points in our score are zero. It does not show that SentinelOne protects worse; it shows that nobody outside SentinelOne has measured it recently.
What does each licence include?
| SentinelOne Singularity Complete | Sophos Endpoint | |
|---|---|---|
| EDR | included | not offered (Sophos EDR is the next product) |
| Ransomware rollback | included | included |
| Linux and servers | included | a paid add-on (Sophos Workload Protection) |
| Phones and tablets | a paid add-on | a paid add-on (Sophos Mobile) |
| 24/7 managed response | not offered | not offered (Sophos MDR is a separate product) |
| Free trial | Demo only | 30 days |
Both include rollback, which is less common than it should be among small-business products. SentinelOne's licence covers more of a mixed estate on its own; Sophos sells servers, phones and EDR as separate subscriptions.
Which suits a regulated business?
SentinelOne says it may sign a HIPAA business associate agreement and holds FedRAMP High authorisation. Sophos lists HIPAA, PCI DSS and CMMC material on its certifications page but does not say whether it signs a BAA, so a medical or dental practice has to ask Sophos or the reselling partner in writing. Our HIPAA BAA register records each vendor's wording.
What do the contracts say?
SentinelOne's master subscription agreement renews automatically and, unless you give 30 days' written notice or raise a new purchase order, prices the renewal at 120% of the last order. Sophos's licence agreement allows fixed-term or auto-renewing subscriptions depending on the quote, so the terms sit in your partner's paperwork. With either vendor, get the renewal terms in writing before you sign.
Which should a small business choose?
- You want EDR and someone will answer its alerts: compare SentinelOne Singularity Complete with Sophos EDR on a partner quote. Pick Sophos for current lab evidence, SentinelOne for Linux and phones in one licence and a BAA offer.
- You do not need EDR: Sophos Endpoint or SentinelOne Singularity Control, or a lower-priced antivirus from our antivirus ranking.
- Nobody will answer alerts: neither product here includes managed response. Look at Sophos MDR, or at the products in our managed response ranking.
